Plastic stripping is then inserted from the top end of the book into the holes. At the back, a corresponding strip with holes is placed. GBC provides a variety of different styles and designs. The most well known kind has 11 pins that are spaced at regular intervals along the spine. A hot knife-binding machine uses this strip style. There about three machines that use this. A heated knife is required in all three models in order to weld the documents permanently into place.
