Legal documents, school projects and assignments, PHD thesis or any kind of fat set of papers which need to be kept in a neat and sorted way should be velo bound with the velo binding knife machine. This a manual or electric machine which will punch holes in the set of papers you want bound together and then thin plastic strips are attached to it and wire sort of metal is passed through the holes to bound the papers into one book kind of document. This is known as velo binding and it is done to keep all loose papers from falling in parts. It is also called sure binding and papers which are of utmost importance are kept from getting jumbled with each other.
The first step in velo binding is to set the order of the papers right. Always check twice if the index, appendix, summary, acknowledgement are set in the correct order of your project or assignment before the punching is done. As once the binding is done, and then if something is wrong in the order then the binding cannot be reversed.
Once the order is papers is correct then punch small sets of these papers with the number of holes using the punching handle of the binding machine. This can either be done manually or with a press of a button if the machine is electric. If too many sheets are punched at one time, there are chances of the paper getting jammed.
The velo binding strips are of two parts, the receiving strip which is a long strip of plastic with the receiving holes and the other with the comb kind of extensions which fit into the receiving strip. The receiving strip is fitted into the binding machine with the help of small holes present on the strip and this also ensures all the sheets fit in properly.
The comb style strip is then punched into the sheets of paper and the receiving strips and then the machine. The documents will then be aligned with this method and then the pressure bar is pressed.
This will remove the excess pins and will bind the document together. The machine will beep once the document will bound.
This velo binding knife is used vastly by many people and is very common in the student class of society. Lawyers and people who deal with large sets of documents also find this a less expensive method of documentation.
