Why You Should Choose Velobind Covers
Print and copying shops stock Velobind, which is a kind binding for books. This velobind covers process entails the punching of numerous holes along the edge of a book that has not been bound. Once this has been done, plastic stripping with rigid tines is placed into the holes from the topside of the book. At the back of the book, corresponding holes are also inserted with protruding tines. The strips are then cut and melted to seal the bind. This is after the book has been inserted into a machine in order for your book to be held firmly.
The General Binding Corporation has trademarked the word Velobind. It has subsequently become a generic word to describe this process. Another way of referring to this is strip binding.
While this process is intended to be of a permanent nature, it can be removed. A utility knife is required to cautiously remove the binding. One can also use a precision cutting device that is sold with the machine.
This process can be used to create hardcover books. Binding two adhesive inner covers with the prospective contents does this. The adhesive pages are attached to the insides of the of the hard paperboard case. The decorating has an adhesive strip that matches the spine. Use contrasting foil to emboss information about the book onto the cover. Dissertations and theses are often preserved with these covers. Often people will remove old binding from a book and then pre emboss it to give it a more beautiful look. This how the saying “soft to hard in thirty seconds” came about.
Styles in velobind are not restricted; there is in fact a variety of different choices to make. The commonest of all is one with eleven spaces that are equal across the spine. To do this, a GBC V800 pro is used. It is a hot knife-binding machine. Two other machines that can also do the job are, the Velobind system Three Pro or the Velobind System Two. These two machines also use a hot knife in order to have documents welded into place.
Two other styles are the six pin and four pin re-closable strips. The four pin strips are compatible with either four-hole pattern or an eleven-hole pattern. The six-pin version is designed to be used with a personal velobinder. This however has been discontinued.
There is no doubt that velobind covers will improve the look of your books and important documents. It is a good idea to do this in order to preserve your books as well.
